I usually don’t set New Year’s resolutions. Goals like “lose 30 pounds in four months” promptly turn into “become as fat as you can as quickly as possible” or they make your “straight A’s” turn into “academic probation.” If FAU had set a New Year’s resolution for 2007, however, I think they would’ve clearly hit their mark. Some universities aspire to make great doctors or lawyers. FAU may be trying to do the same – but not before we launch them into space (page 7) or make them sex experts (page 8). Don’t get me wrong, these are some important qualities to have, but you’ll only find them at FAU – go Owls.
Football has also been big for FAU this year – we are bowl champions, after all (page 6). Not only that, but FAU has made it a priority that our team has a nice little stadium to settle into when they’re not kicking ass elsewhere (check it out online at the all new upressonline.com).
Maybe 2008 can be different for all of us. There are already encouraging signs for goals this year with presidential campaigns coming to FAU (page 6). So, who knows what’s in store for FAU in 2008 – we’ll see.
