BEST TV SHOW TO MAKE FUN OF A MIDDLE-AGED MANPast his midlife crisis,Scott Baio is 46 and Pregnantby Irene Medina, Staff Writer
Last season, Scott Baio went through a midlife crisis (duh, he was 45). He hired a life coach, embarrassed himself on TV with endless breakdowns and even broke up with his girlfriend (Renee) to try to figure things out.
But since, Baio’s passed his mid 40s and now engaged. We can say bye to Scott Baio: 45 and single. Hello to Scott Baio, now 46 and pregnant. Amazing what a year can do to a person.
For most people, the news of having a baby is usually a sign of contentment. Not so for Baio. In his first episode, he actually runs away, steals a catering van and breaks into his country club in the middle of the night. He sits along an isolated row of golf carts, smoking a cigar to call his guy friends for a 3 a.m. conference (talk about dramatic).
That’s not the worst (or the best) part: now that Baio is “ready” to settle down, his best friend of 30 years, Johnny, is jealous and feels “left out” of Baio’s life
(Aw, poor Johnny.)
What a bunch of dramatic little girls (and I’m not even talking about Renee, the pregnant wife).
If that was only the first episode, you can only imagine what the rest of the season is going to be like with Baio’s antics and fits.
BEST SHOW TO MAKE YOU FEEL SMARTERRock of Love 2 Samantha Andrews Staff Writer
This week on Rock of Love 2, Bret Michaels gets introduced to the array of women he might fall in love with. In other words, just a bunch of girls he gets to make out with.
Last season ended with Bret asking Jess to be his rock of love, and all seemed to be happy by the end of the show. But, at the reunion, her true feelings came out, saying Bret should have chosen Heather, the stripper, as the winner because they had a better connection. Let’s not forget Heather’s tattoo of Bret’s name on her neck, which should have been a red-love flag for Bret.
This season’s girls are ditzy as all hell, but a few of the skanks stood out among the crowd. There’s Destiney, who has a horrible cackling laugh that annoys the crap out of Bret, by which he shuts her up by “kissing her face a lot,” says Michaels over and over throughout the episode.
And Angelique, aka Frenchie, who took too many trips the plastic surgeon, is overly boisterous. She proceeds to strip down, pull out her huge boobs for his pictures and French kiss Michaels upon first meeting him.
Courtney is a whiskey drunk who doesn’t even go to the elimination because she’s passed out in the bedroom. She obviously didn’t make it past the first elimination, and the girls who are left then are asked in the morning to wake her up and tell her to go home.
This season is already off to a great and hilarious start. So if you’re bored and want to have a good laugh at some very drunk, very extreme and very unpredictable girls, then watch Rock of Love 2 on VH1.
BEST CD TO BUY THIS WEEKCat Power – Jukeboxby Anthony A. Choman Staff Writer
Jukebox, the eighth record from Georgia-born singer/songwriter Cat Power, is a uniquely reworked and repackaged cover album. Ms. Power last released an album of such devise in 2000 (The Covers Record), but this time around, the songstress deliciously sang to the beat of her own tune … literally.
This album showcases Ms. Power doing what she does best: fashioning classic sounds and songs with her own brand of lazy, lounge-like vocals. Ms. Power has acquired quite the reputation for having both eclectic tastes and ears. The songs she traverses on Jukebox are Bob Dylan’s “I Believe In You,” Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York,” Joni Mitchell’s “Blue,” and Ms. Power even has a go at Billie Holiday’s “Don’t Explain.”
Perhaps the most singular achievement of Jukebox is the overall message of “I is another,” from its creator Ms. Power a.k.a. Charlyn “Chan” Marshall. Jukebox sounds like Marshall’s version of “I’m Not There,” (a testament to the idea that “I is another”) and nothing drives that message home more than her reconstruction of her own song 1998’s “Metal Heart.” Ms. Power’s laissez-faire tonality enrobes listeners in a cocoon of lethargy, their only catharsis being to immediately hit play and listen to the album all over again. Jukebox undeniably delivers on all facets, notes, flanges and breathy vocals.
BEST PLACE TO CHILL AND DRINKThe Cruzan Rum Bar by Tania Stoose Staff Writer
The outdoor Cruzan Rum Bar, complete with real beach sand, is a cool and unique place to spend your Saturday night. If the palm trees, torches and fishing nets aren’t enough, perhaps the two fire pits and view of the sun setting over the intracoastal will tickle your fancy. Kick back in one of the beach chairs with their famous Cruzan Rum Bucket (which is quite literally a bucket of rum) or chill at the new tiki bar and sip on any variety of tropical favorites like a frozen pina colada or daiquiri.
Hungry? They also have a decent sized bar menu available throughout the area — fireside dining at its best. The bar is completely open air, so if rain is in the forecast, be prepared to hide out around the covered bar areas. Wooden walkways traverse the sand, but ladies be advised: stilettos are highly impractical, otherwise anything goes.

BEST VIDEO GAME TO WASTE AN ENTIRE SATURDAYA crashin’ good time in ParadiseBurnout Paradiseby Daniel Alexander Nigro Staff Writer
The long-running Burnout series of racing games is known for two things: fast speeds and incredible crashes. Burnout Paradise, the latest, takes this to a new level.
Gameplay in Paradise, like the series itself, emphasizes fun over realism. As a result, you can expect high-flying stunts, insane speeds, crazy wipeouts and … encouragement for aggressive driving? Yup, the game rewards you for causing other cars to wreck.
What makes Paradise different from the other games in the series is the free roam feature. As opposed to closed circuit racing, you’re given one huge map and 120 unlocked events to deal out mayhem. The races themselves are as freeform as the environment — you’re given directions to reach from point A to point B, but how you get there is your choice. Do you follow other cars, or take risks and find shortcuts?
Online play is available for up to eight players, and you can create scenarios or choose from a selection of pre-made ones. Best of all, if players have a PlayStation Eye or Xbox Live Vision camera, it can be used to take pictures of reactions of players when they’re wrecked (trust me, that’ll happen often).
If you’re looking for relief from driving on I-95, grab Burnout Paradise next week. Xbox 360 and PS3 / $60 / Out on Jan. 22
