Cergile Sincere

One player who is taking the initiative of helping FAU to have a better season than last year is Cergile Sincere. The 6’0 215 pound linebacker is a huge presence on the defensive side. He led the team in tackles with 78, and wants to make the Owls defense more dominant in the Sun Belt Conference with his contribution.

“I just want to make more plays for the team,” Sincere said. Being a senior, and a leader on the team Sincere wants to finish this season on top not only for him, but also for the team. “Our goal is to win the Sun Belt Conference,” he added.

Sincere has seen the program grown from his freshman year in 2003, and has seen some major changes.

“The biggest change I’ve seen is that the team is growing closer and has developed more chemistry on the field,” he said.

An intimidating force on the field and a unique individual off it, football is not the only career he hopes to establish in his life.

“Someday I want to run a nursing home, and make a difference in a person’s life,” he says.

Born in Belle Glade as one of eight children Sincere credits his mentality to his family. His parents instilled hard work and determination as some of the fundamental principles in his home. When he is not in the classroom or attending practices Sincere is happy to be part of the FAU family and community.

“FAU is a great up-and-coming university with beautiful surroundings” says Sincere.

Sometimes football players maybe appear lazy in the classroom or expect star treatment, but not Sincere. He displays qualities of a man driven by success on and off the field. Life from his perspective is not about the riches and glory one receives, but ultimately about helping the less fortunate, and bettering himself as a person.
