An alleged rape and a student shot on the Boca campus. A homeless man beaten by two students in Fort Lauderdale. The year 2006 was full of drama as the university saw many actions that made everyone question the security on all FAU campuses.
In April, University President Frank Brogan wrote a letter to the university and students in regards to the many events that took place over the course of a couple months.
“We at FAU certainly understand the need to maintain a safe campus,” Brogan wrote, “and we continue to do all we can to address areas that might be of concern.”
Some programs Brogan listed-Rape Aggression Defense (RAD), Police Services Department and the NightOwls-cater to the university community for increasing and maintaining campus security.
