FAU Goes Poster-alFAU students are in for a visual feast of contemporary art in the form of posters. The University Galleries have commissioned not one, but two, international poster exhibitions. The first, titled “Graphic Noise: Art at 1,000 Decibels” is an enormous collection of indie rock posters used to advertise shows. The second, the internationally-acclaimed “The Graphic Imperative: International Posters for Peace, Social Justice, and the Environment” contains posters designed by graphic artists concerned with using their skills to tackle social issues. The exhibitions are currently on display in the Schmidt Center Galleries behind the Arts and Humanities Buildings and will remain through Jan 2007. For gallery hours and other inquiries, call (561) 297-2966.

A Recipe for a Good Time with Duck SoupTake one dive bar in Fort Lauderdale, sell it to some rockabilly guys, let them fix up the place, and add a healthy heap of good cheer-with some alcohol, of course-and you’ve got Duck Soup. This bar, located on Powerline Rd. just north of Oakland Park Blvd., is definitely the place where everyone comes to let loose and party to their heart’s content. Look for bartenders Jenn or Tami, and ask them for “sloppy seconds.” You’ll be glad you did. For more info, check out Duck Soup’s MySpace at www.myspace.com/ducksoupbar.
