Wasabis adds an oriental twist to fast food with its sushi and rice bowl concession in the Food Court. “As soon as I make it they take it. Sushi, they love the sushi,’ Thu-Thu the sushi chef says.
“It’s the healthiest thing you can eat. But, now instead of just getting it in a box that’s been sitting there you can see them making it fresh,” says Livia Macedo, a pre-med junior.
Right next to Pizza Hut and across from Burger King, students can choose from a variety of hand-rolled sushi boxes and fresh tossed rice bowls| like Chicken or Beef Teriyaki. The sushi is made on premises and the rice bowls aremade to order.
“It’s healthier than eating burgers or pizza every day. Other than the salad bar this is our only choice. I mean look at that gross frosty cake,” Alexis Henann, a communication major points at the pastry display next to Wasabis.
“How can people eat that?” she asks. “We’ve done really well with sushi on this campus. It’s very trendy now, especially in this area,” says Donna Mercer from Chartwells, which runs Wasabis.
