The Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing received a $1 million donation from the Dodson Family Foundation. Through the Florida gift matching program the donation will total $1.75 million, establishing the Libby Dodson Endowment for Nursing Excellence. Elizabeth Dodson, a Boca Raton nurse and philanthropist, donated the money in order to “help support the advancement of nursing as a discipline and a profession.” In honor of her contribution, the auditorium in the new Nursing building will be named after both Elizabeth Dodson and her late husband Harry Dodson.
FAU President Frank T. Brogan and his wife Courtney Brogan hosted an event on May 5 in order to induct Motorola Executive Rey More ’75 into the FAU Alumni Hall of Fame. The event, which was held at the Eleanor R. Baldwin House on the Boca Raton Campus, also honored eight other Alumni from each of FAU’s colleges. The honorary guests included: James R. Border ’78, vice president and tax counselor for Carnival Corporation; Delsa R. Bush ’91, city of West Palm Beach police chief; Armand Grossman ’67, ’70, ’77, president and CEO of Clarity Education; Kevin A. Huckshorn ’83, director of the technical assistance center for the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors; Alex H. Makled ’00, senior vice president of Camp Dresser & McKee; Beverly Berlin Mas ’02, academic advisor at Palm Beach Community College; Mirta A. Ojito ’86, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and novelist; Dr. Debra R. Rolison ’75, head of the advanced electrochemical materials section at the Naval Research Laboratory.
