Need to know what to wear? QUICK? Here’s some style tips for this season.
Fall is gone and spring is finally here. With the change of the season, there is also a change in the world of fashion. Darker, warmer colors give way to pastel, lighter fabrics. Don’t worry! You too can look fashionably spring with just a few additions to your wardrobe.
For women there are four necessary elements for spring: white pants, large tote bags, tank tops, and skirts.
The first necessity for spring is the white pants. Whether capri or floor length, white pants is an easy dress up or dress down item. Pair it with a camisole and a suit jacket for a professional look, or simply remove the jacket for a more casual style.
The next practical clothing addition is the large tote or handbag. These come in various colors and price ranges, but have one thing in common: room. College students in particular can appreciate the versatility of a large tote bag. Not only can it transport school materials, it can also double as a beach bag.
Another important wardrobe item is the tank top. Particularly in spring pastels, the tank top is as basic as the flip-flop.
For a more dressy setting, the camisole with lace embroidery at the bodice and hem is a great choice. On the other hand, for a general updated spring look a colorful tank can give an outfit a little something extra.
Last but certainly not least, the most important spring item is the flounce hem skirt. Although the ever-popular tiered miniskirt may seem to transcend all seasons, the knee length free flowing skirts give a more sophisticated look. Floral accented ones, in particular, embrace the spirit of spring-incorporating color and simplicity.
Men’s Fashion? (It could happen)
For men there are three key pieces: short sleeved shirts, sunglasses, and comfortable fitting trousers. Although these seem like the most obvious of pieces, they can also be the most difficult finds.
For spring the collared shirt is an easy way to produce a clean look. These come in various colors but basics are always the more practical way to go. When shopping for these polo style shirts, one should strike a balance between snug and oversized. These shirts not only allow the flow of spring air, they also make a good transition into the upcoming summer months.
A good pair of sunglasses can make a very simple outfit, not so simple. For spring, shy away from brighter colored lenses and focus on more muted colors. Try to find a pair that accentuate your facial structure and can be worn with a variety of outfits. With sunglasses, less is so much more.
Lastly one fashion essential for any season is a good comfortable pair of pants. Since the weather is obviously taking a warmer turn, oversized and or tight fitting jeans might not be the best choice. For spring, linen trousers are a must if you can afford to make such a major transition. For the average Joe, lightweight jean pants are also a good option. With the addition of a long sleeved dress shirt, belt, and dress shoes, the lightweight jean can take you on a hot date. On the other hand, for a more casual look a collared shirt, belt and casual shoes can take you from class to class.
These are just a few simple items than can spring you forward in fashion and further into the new year.
