We’re in the midst of a war that won’t end any time soon, yet people still manage to complain that we should be out of Iraq. Well, I don’t support the war, and never did, but you have to understand you’re trying to clean a country of insurgents, rebels, extremists, and people who downright hate Americans.
I still don’t think we had any reason being there in the first place, but what’s done is done, and I’m not going to begin arguing why we shouldn’t be there. We’re there, and the war there won’t end for a while.
This pronounced “War on Terror,” will be years and years before it ends. Even then, it won’t officially end until every person who doesn’t believe in democracy is either dead or gets sucked into a black hole out of existence.
The fact of the matter is, while we did take Iraq over; we want them to reform into a democracy. This isn’t like an invasion of Alexander the Great. Supposedly, when Alexander invaded a province he would let them continue their religious practices, and customs as long as they recognized Alexander as king. Why do you think he took over the Mediterranean?
Instead we take over Iraq, than we demand that everyone embrace the system we are trying to instill in their country. Whether people think it’s a good idea or not, those who disagree with us could potentially cause havoc.
You might ask why people wouldn’t want a democracy, well in some, or most cases, usually people don’t know better. They’re raised under blinded circumstances where they’re taught that America is a horrible place, and we’re horrible people. Although, assaulting the country doesn’t really help in reinforcing our ideas that democracy is good. These people who already thought we were ruthless, probably think we’re more evil then one can imagine.
So, now while we have this country that we took over, that’s essentially in shambles, but we’re trying to piece together, our soldiers aren’t even receiving enough equipment. I honestly think a little more of that budget needs to be spent on getting Iraq together. The President just spent $30-$40 million on his inauguration. I’m sure he can spare our soldiers that are sacrificing their time and lives for our freedom, to give them whatever is necessary to ease the operations, including the best possible equipment. But, that’s another story.
The war won’t end any time soon, but there is so much the President can do to hasten the process. I never supported the war, but if we’re going to be in war, let’s do it the right way, and give our troops as much support as we can.
