Homecoming week festivities offer a wide range of outlets for school spirit
Homecoming week is from Nov. 8 to Nov. 14. The week includes many events, starting off with the Homecoming kickoff party. The kickoff party will be held Monday, Nov. 8, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Boca campus BBQ pits in the housing pavilion. The Davie campus kickoff will be held in the breezeway from 5 to 7 p.m.
The Talon Awards will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 10, at 6:30 p.m. in the Lifelong Learning Center Auditorium.
The Bonfire, an event that offers free food and live music, will be on Nov. 12 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the outdoor stage.
A Comedy Show, featuring Roz G., Corey Holcomb, Orlando Jones, and Bill Bellamy, will be on Nov. 12 at the UC auditorium at 8 p.m.
The football game, featuring FAU vs. New Mexico State, will be Saturday, Nov. 13 at Lockhart Stadium, with kickoff at 4 p.m.
Finally, the week will end with a formal dance, held Nov. 14, in the UC Grand Palm Room at 8 p.m. Tickets for the comedy show and formal dance are available at the Boca UC Box Office.
School of Arts announces next theatre production in Premier Series
A two-show production will be presented Friday, Nov. 12 through Sunday, Nov. 21 in the Studio One Theatre at 8 p.m., except for Sunday at 2 p.m. Both set in Texas, “The Last Meeting of the Knights of the White Magnolia,” by Preston Jones and “Ladies at the Alamo,” by Paul Zindel, will showcase drama and comedy. Angel Giving Tree project needs volunteers

Free, no-needle HIV testing offered by Comprehensive AIDS program
On Thursday, Nov. 18, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in SSB Room 222, free HIV testing is offered. No appointments are necessary. Results are ready in two weeks, and can be picked up in the same room from 1 to 2 p.m.
Learn how to improve your relationships and deal with problems
The next Counseling Center workshop, which will teach people how to improve communication in their relationships and deal with conflicts, will be held in Counseling Center Rm. 229 on Nov. 18, from 12 to 2 p.m. For more information, call 561/297-3540.
Speaker’s Corner debate series gives opposing viewpoints on controversial issues
The first debate of the year will be on stem cell research. The debate will be held on Nov. 8, from 12:30 to 2:20 p.m. All debates are held on the Free Speech lawn, between the Social Science and General Classroom buildings. All of the FAU community is welcome to attend.
