FAU has a lot to offer when it comes to different kinds of clubs and organizations. One that stands out from the rest is the Marine Technology Society. There is plenty to do with and learn from this group of engineers. Here is some information about this organization, which is always welcoming new members.
Name: MTS (Marine Technology Society)/ SNAME (Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers)
Meetings: twice a month, one held at the Boca Campus and the other at Sea Tech (the Dania campus)
Activities: professional and social development for students in the engineering fields;
touring engineering facilities (last year the club visited Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution, Harris Technologies, and Nova Oceanographic center); attending conferences (this year the members will attend the MTS national conference, “Oceans 2003,” to be held in San Diego, California from Sept. 22 to Sept. 25).
The club also strives to have monthly social events. Last year the club’s members often met at Duffy’s Sports Bar in Boca and enjoyed free food. Some other activities included a scuba diving trip, co-sponsored by the FAU Dive Club, and a kayak trip to the Keys, co-sponsored by Campus Recreation. If you are an engineering student, this would be a great club for you to join.
