Meet Daquia: This Navy child moved from South to North Carolina, to Virginia, Texas, and now Florida. Moving around didn’t make her more outgoing, “I’m a to-myself person,” says the sprinter. Her teammates call her everything from “unique” to “crazy.”

This year?

She ran her lifetime best in the 100-meter dash Mar. 23 clocking 11.94 seconds. Daquia is FAU‘s most consistent sprinter.

What now?

The NCAA automatic qualifying time is 11.30 sec. for the 100-meter dash. That would be a big drop for Daquia who is still adjusting to the rigors of being a student-athlete.

” I wanna see how far I can go,” she says. Daquia’s success may yet be another surprise, in a year full of them, for FAU athletes.
