Three average-looking movies come out April 5th. Here’s a quick breakdown:
Big Trouble – Stars Tim Allen (“Home Improvement”), Rene Russo (“The Thomas Crown Affair”) and Janeane Garofalo (“Mystery Men”). The film is an ensemble comedy about how a bomb in a suitcase changes the lives of a divorced dad, an unhappy housewife, two teenagers, two hit men, two street thugs, two FBI men and a toad. All these characters inevitably intersect with humorous and dangerous results. The movie was originally supposed to open September 21st of last year, but was postponed due to the sensitive nature of the film’s content with respect to the terrorist attacks.
High Crimes – Stars Morgan Freeman (“The Shawshank Redemption”), Ashley Judd (“Double Jeopardy”), and Jim Caviezal (“Frequency”). A San Francisco attorney (Judd) teams up with a former military attorney (Freeman) to defend her husband in military court. The man is accused of deserting his troop and participating in a mass killing in El Salvador. However, the more that’s uncovered about the crime, the more complicated the situation becomes.
National Lampoon’s Van Wilder – Stars Ryan Reynolds (“Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place”), Tara Reid (“American Pie 2”) and Teck Holmes (“The Real World Hawaii”). Van Wilder (Reynolds) is a seven-year college senior who finds out that his father has refused to pay for another semester. Van Wilder then plans elaborate schemes and enlists the help of his many friends to help him continue the cushy college life he so adores.
