Meet Heather:
Heather keeps the team loose as one of its comedians. The season, so far, has been a lot of fun.
“We have a bunch of comedians – smart-mouths – who constantly go back and forth,” says the red-headed outfielder who will graduate next year.
“She has a very infectious laugh,” agrees Assistant Coach John Stratton.
This year?
Heather is making her last year her best. She’s the only Lady Owl batting over .400. Coach Stratton couldn’t say enough good things about the team’s center-fielder/catcher.
“She’s the spark-plug that makes things happen. She bunts, she runs, she steals – she does everything.”
What they’re saying:
“Heather could move on to a pro league.” – Assistant Coach Stratton on Heather’s future.
“She hits like a big person.” – Assistant Coach Stratton on Wright’s skill with the bat.
What now? Like fellow seniors Ninya Ybarra, and Nikki Myers, Heather would love to end her collegiate career in the College World Series.
“This year I really believe more than I’ve ever believed,” states Heather about the team’s chances.
The Owls have gone toe to toe with #3 Stanford, and beaten #6 Oklahoma already this year.
