Owls offense taking shape under new offensive coordinator

With spring practice in full swing, new offensive coordinator Travis Trickett is not wasting any time getting his offense accustomed to real game situations — even if they are five months away from game one of the 2016 season.

Football: Owls hold on to take 33-31 win at Old Dominion

Florida Atlantic football finished the season on a positive note Saturday, defeating the Old Dominion Monarchs to eliminate them from bowl eligibility. FAU (3-9, 3-6 C-USA) eclipsed the 400-yard mark for the first time this season, outgaining Old Dominion (4-6, 3-5 Conference USA) 436 to 325 in total yards. The Owls finished the game with 248 rushing yards, also a season high. Junior running back Jay Warren led the team with 150 rushing yards to go with one touchdown on 29 carries.

Football preview: Owls look to end slide versus UTEP

Following a 33-17 defeat against Marshall last week, football will travel to El Paso to take on the UTEP Miners this Saturday night, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. The matchup will be the first ever between the two teams and will be Florida Atlantic's first away game in over three weeks.
