Football: Travis Trickett hired as new offensive coordinator

Florida Atlantic University football has hired Travis Trickett as its new offensive coordinator. Trickett replaces former coordinator Brian Wright, who was fired Sunday night after a four-year tenure with the team. Before agreeing to come to Boca Raton, Trickett coached at Samford University for five years — the last four as offensive coordinator.

Offensive Coordinator Brian Wright fired

Offensive Coordinator Brian Wright was fired by Florida Atlantic football Sunday night, according to a source very close to the situation Wright joined the team in the 2012-2013 season as an offensive coordinator under then-head coach Carl Pelini. He became as interim head coach at the end of the 2013-2014 season after Pelini resigned, leading the team to a 4-0 record. Before FAU, Wright worked for Montana State, Youngstown State and Walsh University in various coaching positions during a 20-year career.

Football preview: Owls look to end slide versus UTEP

Following a 33-17 defeat against Marshall last week, football will travel to El Paso to take on the UTEP Miners this Saturday night, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. The matchup will be the first ever between the two teams and will be Florida Atlantic's first away game in over three weeks.
