Florida Atlantic University’s Police Department advises content creators to abide by state and university laws following multiple filming disturbances on campus.
FAUPD released a statement on Instagram on Wednesday, alerting students and staff to increased instances where people filming content interrupt the normal operations on campus.
“We’ve seen an increase in individuals coming onto campus to film ‘content’ that disrupts students, staff, daily operations, and residential dorms,” the Instagram post states.
The post reminds YouTubers and content creators that filming content that interrupts normal operations, such as classes and student activities, is not allowed on campus. According to Florida Trespass Law, F.S. 810. 09: “A person who, without being authorized, licensed, or invited, willfully enters upon or remains in any property other than a structure or conveyance,” can be considered a trespasser.
Those who are given a lawful order to leave campus and refuse can be charged with a criminal offense, according to the Instagram post. FAUPD advises people to report concerns and campus disturbances to the department.
