You are getting sleepy, very sleepy — whether you dream of an easy A or of your naggy girlfriend magically disappearing, Chris Jones, entertainer, magician and hypnotist, is coming to town, and he promises to deliver.

As the end of summer rapidly approaches, the Program Board, a division of Student Government, opens their new program So Fresh with a bang. One of the newest and most energized performers on the college market, according to his performance reviews.

Chris Jones is performing this Wednesday, Aug. 15, in the Carole & Barry Kaye Auditorium, located inside the Student Union at 9:00 p.m. The evening’s entertainment starts So Fresh 2012, a series of programs for new students to make the transition to fall comfortable. As with previous Program Board events, free popcorn will be handed out.

Jones has toured high schools and universities across the country, and his act includes lots of crowd interaction, according to the Program Board’s event page.

Jones is a Chicago based entertainer who perfected his act throughout college, while earning a master’s in therapeutic recreation. His act demonstrates “perfect balance of conjuring, psychology, comedy and suggestion,” according to his biography.

The last live act brought to FAU by the board was part of the Summer Splash program and included the comedic styling of Jay Phillips, July 27. It was a success with an audience so large, the 200 seats provided were full, with 25 people standing against walls.

Program Board director Lexi Rosario, a sophomore finance major, was pleased.

“Everyone had a good time” she said afterward. With the last event being such a victory, the pressure is on  to make sure the So Fresh events match up to the integrity Summer Splash held.

“I expect nothing less than amazing because of the passion that my board has for programming and creating an experience rather than just an event,” said Rosario.

Because crowd interaction is a staple in Jones’s performances, the board advises the audience to show up early. “I’m confident there will be a strong turnout for all of our Weeks of Welcome events and I couldn’t be more excited!” a beaming Rosario said. “Students have always enjoyed these type of performances in the past, so I’m super excited for them this year.”

Summer Splash 2012 started in late June and concluded Aug. 5. This is the first of the So Fresh program’s events.  Upcoming events being hosted by the Program Board include a magic act and a foam party.

So Fresh 2012 continues until Monday, Aug. 20. For more details on dates and events visit http://www.fau.edu/freshman/sofreshweek.php.
