Warrant out for Jonatha Carr’s arrest

The UP has learned FAU PD has a warrant out for the arrest of Jonatha Carr, the student who threatened her evolution professor and class. She is facing battery charges against a FAU professor.

Justin White is the professor Carr hit in the video and is also the Director of the Spanish Basic Language Program. The UP reported he wasn’t going to press charges against Carr. On March 30 he changed his mind after learning FAU PD isn’t pressing charges, so he went and filed a report.

“Last week I learned that no criminal charges had been filed against Jonatha Carr for her threats of killing all members of one particular race, her professor, myself and the police,” White said in a text. “I filed charges with the authorities for her acts of violence. I hope that these experts will make the best decision for our community as well as this individual,” White said.

The Carr family found out about the charges today, according to Jonatha’s sister Nicole Carr. “We’re just trying to figure out the whole system and what to do,” she said.

The Carr family is trying to see if Jonatha can appear before a mental health court, since she suffers from bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.

“I put my faith in the justice system and hope they will find the rehabilitation she needs,” White said.

FAU PD didn’t have information on the charges or warrant when asked.
