Clemson 47, FAU 14
When: Saturday, Sept. 2, 3:30 p.m.on ESPNU
Where: Memorial Stadium in Clemson, South Carolina(Capacity: 81,473)
Prediction: Clemson Head Coach Tommy Bowden is legendary Florida State football Coach Bobby Bowden’s son. At Clemson the younger Bowden has won 52 out of 85 football games. His overall record of 70 wins, 37 losses, ranks him fifteenth in wins for active coaches in Division I NCAA football. Bowden has coached his teams to wins over FloridaState, twice, and University of Miami. Clemson is the frontrunner for a 2006 ACC championship and are certainly a bowl championship series team. This is the highest caliber team FAU has ever faced, even better than Louisville last year.
Why are these two teams playing: Clemson put FAU on the schedule as a tune-up before they play Atlantic Coast Conference rivals BostonCollege and Florida State. The Owls are playing the game for a big payday and a chance to play against the elite of college football.
Watch Out: Clemson WR Rendrick Taylor is extremely quick and talented. LB Antonio Clay, CB Sergio Gilliam and LB Nick Watkins anchor the most talented defense FAU will face this season.
