Men’s basketball: second-half shooting woes results in loss to UTEP

Florida Atlantic men’s basketball was unable to shoot the ball as well in the second half as it did in the first, resulting in a 60-55 loss to the University of Texas El-Paso on Thursday night in Boca Raton.

After forcing overtime with a Gerdarius Troutman 3-pointer with two seconds remaining, Florida Atlantic men’s basketball was unable take advantage in the extra period, resulting in a 66-65 loss to UTEP Saturday night in El Paso, Texas.

Women’s basketball: FAU drops heartbreaker to UTEP in defensive affair

After forcing the Miners into a contested 3-pointer, Florida Atlantic Women’s Basketball got the ball back with five seconds left on the clock with a chance to win the game. The ball was inbounded to junior Nika Zyryanova, who then found junior Sasha Cedeno in the corner with a pass.

Facing a three-point deficit with a little under three minutes remaining, Florida Atlantic football found itself 96 yards away from the end zone. Sophomore quarterback Jason Driskel led his team down the field before finding junior wide receiver Nate Terry for a 7-yard touchdown pass to defeat UTEP 35-31.

Women’s Basketball: Owls fall on the road at UTEP

Florida Atlantic women’s basketball entered Saturday on a five-game losing streak, having lost nine of its last 12 since the start of 2016. Things wouldn’t get easier for the Owls (11-13, 3-10 Conference USA) on Saturday, as they fell to Conference USA’s top team, UTEP, 75-47. FAU allowed the Miners (21-2, 12-1 Conference USA) to jump out to an early 12-2 lead just minutes into the game.

Women’s Basketball Preview: Owls Travel to Texas to Visit UTSA and First Place UTEP

Florida Atlantic Women’s basketball team is headed on a Texas road trip this week to take on the University of Texas at San Antonio Roadrunners and the University of Texas at El Paso Miners. FAU (11-11, 3-8 C-USA) is currently in its second four-game losing streak of the season, and is looking to bounce back from a tough 67-62 loss at home to the University of Alabama-Birmingham last Saturday. Here’s a look at what to keep your eye on for this week’s matchups.
