Women’s Basketball: Kat Wright’s 33 points not enough to overcome slow start

January 31, 2016

Two days following its worst shooting game of the season, Florida Atlantic women’s basketball’s offensive struggles continued in its 85-79 loss at the hands of the Charlotte 49ers on Saturday night. FAU (11-9, 3-6 Conference USA) missed its first nine shots from the floor to start the game, allowing Charlotte to jump out to an early 8-0 lead. The 49ers would hold onto that lead for the rest of regulation. Junior Kat Wright was the Owls’ lone bright spot on the night, as she exploded for a career-high 33 points thanks to making 11-of-19 3-pointers, setting a new school and Conference USA record for the most 3-pointers made in a single game.
