Men’s basketball: FAU sweeps season series over FIU with win

After Florida International University took a 47-46 lead, Florida Atlantic men’s basketball used a 15-1 run between the 15:37 and the 9:54 mark in the second half to gain full control of the game and secure an 83-65 victory over the Golden Panthers Thursday night in Miami.

Florida Atlantic women’s basketball is still searching for its first road win of the season and its first win of 2017 after an 87-69 loss to the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders Saturday afternoon in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Athletics breaks ground on new athletic and academic center

Florida Atlantic University broke ground on the Schmidt Family Complex for Academic and Athletic Excellence on Friday. The new center is set to open in July 2018 if “everything goes according to plan,” according to FAU Athletic Director Patrick Chun.

After forcing overtime with a Gerdarius Troutman 3-pointer with two seconds remaining, Florida Atlantic men’s basketball was unable take advantage in the extra period, resulting in a 66-65 loss to UTEP Saturday night in El Paso, Texas.
