Kenpo can be translated as the ‘Law of the Fist’ , or ‘Chinese fist’.

BCC Kenpo stresses a mix of ‘hard’ and ‘soft’ techniques. The student’s initial training is the understanding of the kihon waza (the basic techniques).

These basic techniques would include blocks, strikes, stances and kicks. Once the student becomes familiar with the basics, the student is then taught softer techniques, employing redirection and parrying. At this point, the student begins to employ these new skills while performing kata, bunkia , and kumite. It is also important that the student understands centering and balance before attempting a technique. Kenpo is a martial art that strives to teach the student self-control, confidence, and self-defense.
