In less than a week, FAU will permanently close the entire first floor of Parking Garage III — 210 total spaces — to expand the College of Business.
The closure, which starts Aug. 10, will make way for “student services,” general classrooms, and tutoring spaces, says an FAU email that went out Wednesday. The garage sits near the FAU Stadium across from the business college.
The email also noted that level 2 will be closed temporarily at certain points during the project, which is expected to be completed by fall 2019.
There were over 38,000 registered parking passes as of August 2017. Following the construction, there will be 11,373 total parking spots.
Meanwhile, FAU students on Twitter are voicing their frustrations with the closure.
If you’re currently parked in level 1, move by midnight Aug. 9 or your car will be towed to Parking Lot 5 next to the stadium.
The University Press reached out to the Office of the President, Parking and Transportation Services, and Media Relations for comment on the cost of the project and who/what will pay for the project, but none responded as of publication time.
