hree people were robbed within a 24-hour time span on Saturday very close to the university’s Boca Raton campus, according to the Sun Sentinel.
The newspaper says the Boca Raton Police Department is investigating three separate robberies that took place near the University View apartments, located less than a mile from the Boca Raton campus.
Although the apartment complex is privately owned, it caters to students from FAU, Lynn University and Palm Beach State College.
The robberies happened between the hours of Saturday at 12:30 a.m. to 1:40 a.m. on Sunday morning.
In the first robbery, five men attacked a male individual after he declined to buy drugs from them. The police report says the group took his iPhone.
The second robbery happened at 1:15 a.m. Saturday, when another male was approached by three males and stripped of his iPhone, according to a police report. After he tried to buy back his stolen phone from the robbers for $500, they took his wallet.
The final case happened on Sunday at 1:40 a.m. when a person was attacked by a group of between five and seven men and was also robbed of his iPhone.
The Sun Sentinel reported that all three men were leaving parties when they were robbed.
Boca Police spokesperson Mark Economou told the Sun Sentinel that police are looking to see if the incidents are related.
