Students will have a new place to root from come next football season.

In an announcement made by student body president Michael Cepeda, the student section is being moved from the south end zone stands to the north end zone stands. The move, which will take effect for the 2015-2016 season, was made primarily so students could see the video scoreboard in the south end zone.

“And now we will be able to enjoy all home games in our new and improved student section,” said Cepeda in his statement. “The new seats also give us the chance to watch all the excitement on the giant Jumbo-tron screen as we cheer on the fighting Owls all season long.”

In an interview with Owl Access, Cepeda also commented on the increased amount of shade the stands provide “Usually that side has a little more shade so we won’t be sweating as much during the games,” he said.

The 114 fans who currently hold season tickets in the north stands are being offered the same tickets on the south side, or a discounted upgrade price for sideline seats. The FAU Marching Band will still sit in the south end zone, and there are plans to convert the rest of the section into a family fun zone.

The Student section had always been in the south end zone since the stadium opened in 2011.
