Letter to the Editor

From Meridith Wailes

Sunday, Sept. 25, 2011

The recent blurb, “The girl who cried wolf…rape” is completely inappropriate. Rape is a huge problem on college campuses, and often goes unreported because women are afraid that they will be judged, as you are doing. Even if it is reported, there are often no consequences for the rapist. In writing this and demeaning the victim, you are deterring future victims from coming forward. Just because you have the First Amendment right to say something, doesn’t mean that you should.
