Event: Homecoming Parade

INFO: This is the fourth annual Homecoming Parade, and it’s the longest-running parade FAU has had. Participants can build a float and register for the parade for free by filling out a registration packet. The parade is starting at Lot 5 to promote the future building of the football stadium. Event: Fall Family Fest and Bonfire
Location: Housing Lawn

INFO: This event is sponsored between Homecoming, Program Board, the Office of the President and the Housing Office. The plan is to have smokehouse barbecue food instead of typical hamburgers and hotdogs. There will be giveaways, vendors and music. This is a free event and families of students are invited too. At the end of the festival, there will be a bonfire. Participants should dress comfortably and just show up.

Event: Freaker’s Ball 2010

Cost: $10 in advance for FAU students, $20 week of the show (must present Owl Card), $30 in advance for non-students, $35 week of the show.
Info: Freaker’s Ball 2010 will be featuring Ludacris. Tickets are currently on sale and selling quickly. Those who bought tickets for the Oct. 15 date can return their tickets to the Box Office for a full refund or use them to attend the Nov. 10 show — all tickets will be honored at the door. Students, families, faculty and staff are welcome to attend.

JUPITER

INFO: Students should come to this dance in their most creative costumes. There will be a costume contest with categories like Most Creative, Best Duo, and Best Group Costume. Winners and notables from previous years included Popeye and Olive Oil, a Sphinx, and the X-Men. The Jupiter Program Board and the MacArthur Resident Student Association are sponsoring this event.

Event: Decorate the Burrow
Location: SR Atrium 151 and The Burrow
Time: 5 to 7 p.m.

INFO: Students get hands-on Homecoming experience by decorating Jupiter’s Student Union, The Burrow and the SR Atrium. This year, any student organization on the Jupiter campus can create a Homecoming banner that will be hung in the Atrium to show club spirit. The Burrow gets decorated top to bottom with paint — paper and new decorating ideas are welcomed. The Jupiter Homecoming Committee is sponsoring this, and FAU students, staff and faculty can take part.

Event: Homecoming Kickoff Carnival
Location: South Housing Field
Time: 4 to 7 p.m.
Cost: free (bring Owl Card)
INFO: This is the biggest on-campus event for the week. The Carnival will feature two rides (a glider and a swing set), an inflatable obstacle course and an inflatable bungee cord. There will be a prize truck where students can win stuffed animals and other carnival-type prizes. A balloon and face painting artist will be there too. Booths run by Campus Recreation and other clubs will feature different games. Carnival food like hot dogs, cotton candy, popcorn and more will be there for free. Jupiter Program Board, the MacArthur Student Association and the Jupiter Homecoming Committee sponsor this event. Faculty and staff are also welcome with an Owl Card.

INFO: Participants will head to The Burrow for an evening of creating Halloween cards and autumnal decorations. The creations will go to two Salvation Army after-cares in Palm Beach County and a Salvation Army men’s shelter. The goal is to utilize Homecoming enthusiasm to spread community cheer. The Jupiter Homecoming Committee and Jupiter Students Advocating Volunteer Involvement sponsor this event. All FAU students are welcome.
