How to help Haiti

On Jan. 12, a 7.0-magnitude earthquake hit near the capital of Haiti. Konbit Kreyol — a Haitian student organization and FAU’s largest student club — is working with FAU and other organizations to coordinate relief efforts. Here’s how you can get involved:

DONATIONS:

Konbit Kreyol is accepting donations for two recipients, Food for the Poor and the General Consulate of Haiti in Miami. They are not accepting monetary donations, but clothing, non-perishable food, and first aid items can be dropped off at the following locations on the Boca campus:

A Konbit Kreyol table that will be in the Breezeway every weekday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

     Office of Multicultural Affairs
Student Services Building, Room 224 (above the Breezeway cafeteria)

     Student Government
     Student Union, Room 215

Black Student Union & Multicultural Programming (BSUMP)
     Student Union, Room 207

Coyote Jack’s (or any other Chartwells locations)
     Student Union, first floor

VOLUNTEERS:

Volunteers are needed to help transport donations to a central holding location on the Boca campus and sort donations before they are sent to Haiti. Anyone interested in volunteering (community service hours are available) can contact:

FAU Weppner Center for Civic Engagement and Service
     (561) 297-3607

Mikerlande “Mickey” Erilus (or any other Konbit Kreyol board member)
Internal vice president for Konbit Kreyol
     (754) 423-0338
