Football coach hits the radio

Every Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m., FAU football Head Coach Howard Schnellenberger is a guest on the ESPN 760 radio show. On Thursdays before a home game, he appears as a guest on the live talk show at Miller’s Ale House on Yamato Road in Boca. Free appetizers are served to the students, alumni and faculty who come to the reserved pool table area.

Customers of Miller’s Ale House, along with Owls fans, got the chance to ask Schnellenberger their questions. If a question was not answered on the air, Schnellenberger said he would give that person a phone call or post the answers on the FAU athletics Web site. Schnellenberger also stated, “I’ll put it on my tweeter.”

This Saturday’s game against Wyoming will be FAU’s 100th football game, and Schnellenberger has coached FAU since the football program began. He kept positive when he mentioned that FAU has won 48 games so far. “Maybe 49 wins,” he added, hopeful about the game against the Cowboys.
