Teaching students how to find jobs

The Career Development Center (CDC) is going to show graduates how to make a successful transition into the work force with their seminar, “Dare to be Prepared for Today’s Job Market.” The seminar will show which local companies are hiring, as well as provide resume critiques and a free lunch.

On May 11 at 10 a.m. in the Boca campus Student Union, nine private employers and two public agencies will teach graduates how to craft respectable-looking resumes, how to search for a job and give them a chance to apply to work for any of the participating employers.
“The focus of [Dare to be Prepared is on] the students that are graduating this year,” explains Career Development Center Director Sandra Jakubow. “The Career Development Center felt that we really needed to reach out and put together a program on behalf of our graduates to help them transition into the job market because of the downward nature of the economy.”

?Although students were encouraged to register for the seminar by May 6, CDC Assistant Director Brian Montalvo says they will take registrations until the space is full. To register, e-mail Montalvo at [email protected] with your name, major/degree, and graduation month and year.
