Former Student Found Dead at the Apartments

A former FAU student was found dead in Building 60 of the on-campus student apartments late November after what residents say was a “night of partying.”

Kyle Steven Ramstrum, 20, passed away in his sleep on the morning of Nov. 25 in the bed of close friend Bailey Mcallister.

According to Mcallister’s roommate, Vanessa Lozada, Ramstrum was snoring so loudly that Mcallister left the room around 9:30 a.m. and went upstairs to sleep on the couch.
“I went back to bed after that and woke up around 11:30 a.m., and I peeked in the room and he was still alive,” Lozada told the UP that night. “Bailey [Mcallister] found him dead when she woke up around 1 p.m.”

Multiple student witnesses say they saw Ramstrum “drinking,” “taking vodka shots,” “crunching roxies” and “taking Xanax” into the morning hours of Nov. 25.

While FAU Police say the death is a suspected overdose, as of press time the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner’s Office said Ramstrum’s autopsy report is still pending, awaiting a final toxicology report.

According to the office, autopsy reports can take up to 14 weeks to be completed.
