The FAU AIDS Committee, the Student Health Advisory Council and Alpha Phi Omega will host the 2008 World AIDS Day program on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 7 p.m. in the Grand Palm Room of the Student Union on the Boca Raton campus.
Latina AIDS activist Damaries (Dee) Cruz, a health educator for the Miami-Dade Health Department, will share her story and experiences with this disease and the rising incidence of HIV in the Hispanic community. The event will also feature the colorful portraits of people living with and dying from HIV/AIDS, creations by retired Fort Lauderdale oncologist Wilma Bulkin-Siegel, MD.
Winners of the FAU AIDS Committee’s annual student literary and visual art competitions will be showcased, and refreshments will be provided. For more information, please call 7-1135.
