“Reflections and Refractions”
This ring contains a selection of works from internationally recognized artists and their reactions to American politics, political figures and events.
The main pieces in Ring 3 are two five-minute animated video segments by Kenneth Tin-Kin Hung titled “Residential Erection” (right) and “Because Washington is Hollywood for Ugly People” (below). Hung pokes fun at the current election by manipulating images in animated collages. The videos were shown on a flat-screen TV inside a newspaper-clad cave (opposite). The newspaper clippings are all related to the war, and government documents spell out the words “Holy Wood.”
