FAU may not be smart enough for Brooke Hogan, celebrity daughter of wrestling superstar Hulk Hogan.
The reality TV starlet was on the Boca Raton campus all day Tuesday, where she filmed scenes for her family’s VH1 series, “Hogan Knows Best.” At 12:30 p.m., with cameras rolling and a nine-person production crew surrounding her, Hogan walked into the Student Support Services building on her way to the admissions office. Turning to a friend, she quietly admitted, “I’m afraid people will think I’m dumb if I go here.”
Rumor has it that Hogan is looking to enroll as a business major, and according to freshman Antonia DeFeo, “She wants to join my sorority, Alpha Xi Delta.”
DeFeo said Alpha Xi Delta (AXiD) was contacted on Monday by the Greek Life Coordinator Ryan O’Rourke about Hogan’s interest in the sorority.
“We’ve heard that her parents are trying to immerse her after being home-schooled,” said fellow AXD sister Tiffani Wilshire. The girls were selected to help make Hogan’s visit to FAU more enjoyable and were sporting their sorority T-shirts for visibility.
“This is great publicity for FAU and our sorority,” freshman Kristen King said. The girls were gathered in the Centre Marketplace cafeteria while they waited for Hogan’s arrival for lunch after her campus tour. In fact, DeFeo and her twin sister Elena are hosting Hogan in their dorm room on Thursday night.
For the next few days, Hogan will be returning to visit the Boca Raton campus. The University Press acquired her itinerary. On Wednesday, she’ll be on a shopping spree at the campus bookstore, and on Thursday, she’ll attend a football scrimmage and bonfire at the proposed site of the new FAU stadium.
In addition to Tuesday’s meeting with Director of Admissions Barbara Fletcher, Hogan toured the Student Union and the business college. She also stopped by the Breezeway Food Court – where she lunched on yellow rice and chicken, leaving the Alpha Xi Delta sisters hanging.
However, while the Alpha Xi Delta sisters were busy with excitement about Brooke Hogan becoming the next FAU Fightin’ Owl, some students remained apathetic.
“Brooke who?” asked sophomore Harly Sushil. “I don’t even know who this person is.”
