Got a jones for some mocha chocolate love?The Black Student Union at the MacArthur campus in Jupiter is hosting a special coffeehouse-style event in the dining hall on Feb. 14 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event celebrates love, unity, and diversity. The night will include song, poetry and spoken word. Dress to impress and come out to enjoy a jazzy atmosphere with your sweetheart snf closest friends because there will be lots of treats and plenty of coffee and tea. What’s your major malfunction?Grind your metal gears at Malfunction Mondays, South Florida’s only weekly outlet for hardcore, metal, punk, and other headbanging hits. O’Malley’s in Margate is currently playing host to the Malfunction party, and doors open at 9 p.m. If you’re old enough to drink (legally), you’re old enough to get in free – but if you’re still sneaking shots in the bathroom, it’s a $5 cover for ya. Writing about the Middle East could make life easy?The “Dream Deferred” essay contest on civil rights in the Middle East is available to students who are 25 years old or younger and live in the Middle East or America. You must submit an essay of 600-1500 words addressing one of the questions listed on the scholarship’s Web site. Choose Jews this Valentines’ DayThe Judaica Sound Archives is hosting an event called “KULTUR – Chants or Chance: What is Jewish Music?” on Feb. 14 from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the S.E. Wimberly Library on the Boca Raton campus. Marsha Bryan Edelman, a professor of Music and Education at Gratz College and author of “Discovering Jewish Music” leads the lecture.

It’s not quite a $577,950 “severance package”Ah, spring semester; flowers are in bloom across campus, undergrads hit the beach before campus, and nominations begin for the annual Employee Service Awards Ceremony, set to be held on Tuesday, March 25, in the Live Oak Pavilion on the Boca Raton campus. The President’s Leadership Award is given out to outstanding FAU employees who go above-and-beyond the call of duty. This year, two employees will be selected to receive specially designed trophies and $1,500 (pre-tax) cash awards. Nominations may be made in the following categories: SP employee, AMP employee, faculty member, librarian or academic administrator. Temporary employees are not eligible.
