Tony Teixeira was declared the unofficial winner of the student body presidential election Thursday morning. The results, however, will not be official for another week. As of noon on Thursday Teixeira had 899 votes to Jared Torres’ 873. However, minutes after winning Teixeira was still cautious. “I’ve been here before,” he said. “I hope there’s no contestation.” Last year he won a run-off election for student body president but it was disputed days later and eventually invalidated by a student-run court. Minutes after finding out he lost Torres responded with “The numbers don’t add up. There’s no way.” His running mate Rocky Joarder shook his head and echoed those thoughts.
