Rumors Swirl Over Fate of Student Body President Kirk Murray

Student Body President Kirk Murray was nowhere to be found a day after rumors began to swirl about his possible resignation.

While no one has been able to confirm if it is true, sources who wish to remain anonymous say that FAU administrators asked Kirk Murray to resign from his office Wednesday. SG’s adviser Associate Dean of Student Affairs Lisa Bardill said, “Yeah I heard that too,” but could not provide any details.

“That’s the buzz,” said Student Body Vice President Austin Shaw early Thursday morning. He couldn’t, however, confirm the rumors, saying he has not discussed the situation with Murray.

“Personally, I feel this is something he should talk to me about,” Shaw said. “He and I have not crossed paths in over a week.”

In fact, no one the UP spoke with admitted discussing the rumors with Murray:- “I don’t know. You have to ask him,” Murray’s Chief of Staff Todd Ericson said.- “I don’t have anything to say,” SG controller Michael Hallenstein said. “I’m not going to talk about it.”

One SG official said he did speak to Murray Thursday morning, but not about the rumors. “I spoke to him today and he was making an agenda for tomorrow’s UWC [a panel of SG’s top leaders] meeting,” SG’s Chief Justice Farid Hamidzadeh said.

Vice President of Student Affairs Charles Brown said, “I have no comment on that right now.” But he added, “As you [the UP] know we are doing an investigation and once it’s complete I’d be more than willing to talk to you.” [ See Missing Treasure ]
