Summer Update #5

What Happened: Boca Raton Community Hospital (BRCH) plans to move its facilities across the street to FAU’s Boca Raton Campus. The new hospital will become the teaching hospital for the university’s medical school. The medical school is a result of a partnership between FAU and the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. BRCH will pay the university a total of $21 million, which is intended to go towards two new parking garages. “This historic agreement between FAU and Boca Raton Community Hospital will allow for academic endeavors that will move this university towards even greater prominence,” President Frank Brogan said.

What’s New: Students will spend all four years of medical school at FAU starting in 2007, according to the Palm Beach Post. Also cited in the article, BRCH hopes to have residents by 2009-2010, and the new hospital is expected to open in 2011.
