FAU Creates Ninth College

FAU recently created the Charles E. Schmidt College of Biomedical Science, making it the university’s ninth college.

Currently, the College of Biomedical Science is only open to graduate students enrolled at FAU or the University of Miami.

The new college will house the existing biomedical science faculty in two departments: the Department of Basic Biomedical Science and the Department of Clinical Science, which will support the satellite program the university has with the University of Miami’s Miller School of Medicine at FAU.

Michael Friedland, vice president of medical programs and the new dean of the College of Biomedical Science, said, “The development of the new College provides us with the infrastructure needed to become a major academic health science center.”

Dean of the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science Gary Perry added, “The many fields of science continue toæexpand each and every day, this move allows the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science to increase its focus on both instruction and research in traditional science and mathematics.”

For more information on the new College of Biomedical Science, its programs and curriculum, please contact the department at (561) 297-2219.
