Commencement:

Commencement ceremonies will be held August 11 at 9 am, 1 pm, and 5 pm at the Carole and Barry Kaye Performing Arts Auditorium, University Center, Boca Raton Campus. For additional information, visit www.fau.edu/registrar/gradinfo.htm.

Fall Session:Classes begin for Fall 2006 on August 19 for all campuses.

Construct:Now through Thursday, August 31at the Wimberly Library, 2nd Floor and Jaffe Book Arts Gallery, 3rd Floor. “Inspired by the sounds of jack hammers, cement pumps, and nail guns operating compressed air, and by the sight and gritty feel of white dust coating our display cases, the Jaffe Collection has put together an exhibit of artists’ books that deal with the topic of construction,” said John Cutrone, book arts coordinator. Friday Night Flicks: Old School Square’s movies under the stars offer a fun, relaxed evening for adults and families alike. Bring your lawn chairs, but please leave pets at home. SCHOLARSHIPS:

Depan International Transfer Student Scholarship: Awards $2,000 for a student transferring to FAU on a student or scholar visa, includes a nonresident tuition fee waiver after completion of at least one year of study at another institution. Eligibility criteria include outstanding academic achievement, English proficiency, and evidence of community service or activity. Renewable up to three years while a full-time student at FAU. “Do Unto Others…..”æScholarship:This scholarship is open to outstanding students attending FAU who meet the following criteria: must major in people and community oriented fields of work, must be full-time undergraduate or graduate with a 3.25 GPA, must demonstrate financial need and must submit an essay on the applicant’s philosophy of life and his/her ideals, detail personal interests, hobbies and accomplishments and summarize history of volunteer work (i.e.ægiving back or doing the same someday for others). Essay must also include a statement of the applicant’s living a healthy lifestyle (i.e.æ not indulging in smoking, drinking alcohol or using drugs).æ This scholarship is NOT renewable.

Milton & Gladys Meisner Scholarship Fund:This scholarship is awarded to students in architecture, ocean engineering or in a pharmaceutical program that may be in place. Recipients must be in theiræjunior or senior year and demonstrate financial need.

Events & Facilities Assistant:Assist with set-up and break-down for events, act as ticket taker and/or usher when needed, operation of equipment, such as audio systems, scoreboards and spotlights, supervise event and enforce facility policies and procedures, assist in participant and spectator access and control, supervise vendor load-in and load-out for special events, complete opening and closing procedures for arena, responsible for carrying out tasks assigned by Director of Facilities and Director of operations.
