After presidential candidate Kirk Murray disputed the results of therun-off election, his major complaint was the fact that the electionwas held only one day instead of two, as required by SG rules. However he had other complaints, and one of them involved SeaTech – FAU’s second smallest campus. And small isn’t an understatement. Only48 students are enrolled on the campus – which specializes in marinebiology and research – compared to Boca’s 19,000 students. So, what went wrong with SeaTech? Well, it didn’t have a pollinglocation and every campus is required to have them. After ElectionSupervisor Bryce Jones read the dispute, he said he was “shocked, especially at how petty some of the stuff was.” And according to Jones,SeaTech has never had a polling location. But apparently, even FAU administrators are concerned about SeaTech. Intheir recent letter threatening to essentially shut down StudentGovernment, they mentioned “no polls on the SeaTech campus” as aproblem.Murray and Teixeira got about 1,800 votes between them during thegeneral election this year, which means about seven percent of the studentpopulation on each campus voted. Seven percent of SeaTech’s populationcomes out to about three students.”That’s a great way to spend student money for two people to vote onSeaTech,” Jones said.
