Although FAU baseball didn’t advance past the Coral Gables Regional, two players were named to the All-Regional team, giving them at least one positive note to carry into next season.
Sophomore infielder Tyler Stevens and freshman Mickey Storey earned their first career all-regional honors and their play indicates it won’t be their last. Stevens went six-for-six during the weekend, scoring three runs. Stevens ended the regular season by being named to the Second All-Conference team. He batted .424 for the season.
Storey finished the season with a 10 and 1 record and an earned run average (ERA) of 1.70. Storey is the only FAU pitcher in the history of Division I competition to end a season with an ERA under 2.00. He also was named to the Third Team All-America by Louisville Slugger. His regional play was highlighted by pitching a complete game against Virginia Commonwealth.
