Like a good majority of the people living in South Florida, I was born in New Jersey. While I can’t say I never want to go back, I do love Florida. Many of us put down this exciting state, which has more exciting elements about it than people even realize.
Having lived in Palm Beach County for 12 years, I can say I’ve pretty much done it all and seen it all. Theme parks are less than three hours away, and the beach is on practically every side of the state (besides the northern border, of course). With other attractions going on, like the Renaissance festival, and more then enough college sport teams, I must say that we really don’t have it as bad as a lot of people think we do.
One of the best and worst attributes of living in South Florida is probably the elderly people. While the majority of them can’t really drive well, and they act like the world owes them a living, there is truly so much we could learn from them. There are dozens of thousands of the elderly living here in Boca even. If we just gave them a little time to speak, we might understand them better. Well, on the bright side, even if we’re not going to talk to them, the roads are practically empty after 9 p.m. every night, so we can thank them for that.
We probably have some of the nicest weather around for most of the year. Sure, it rains more then we’d like it to during the summer, but we have generally warmer weather three other seasons in the year then do most states. There are not many other places around the nation where you can take your girlfriend on a late night stroll through Mizner Park in the middle of December.
The weather probably has something to do with having pretty good sport teams, too. Aside from the Miami Dolphins, who flopped this year, our teams usually put up a pretty good fight. You can even say the weather has probably even lent a hand to our Owls: Fourth year, doing awesome, and it looks like we’re only going to get better.
There are many bad and good things about living in Florida, especially South Florida. It’s that way with anything and everything though.
You just have to look at the bright side of Florida if you want to enjoy what state has to offer more.
