Wackadoos, a bar and grill with fairly priced food, television, and billiards – what more could one ask for?
Unfortunately for me though, I’m not a fan. So, I tried to reach the manager there to get a few questions answered, but I was unsuccessful. One time I stood at the take out desk for ten minutes waiting for someone to help me, but no one ever came. Good service. The manager was either busy, or not there the three times I came in to see him. Busy is a good thing, right?
To be blunt, I think Wackadoos makes the worst burgers I’ve ever tasted. I thought the desert was dry, but when I eat a Wackadoos burger, I feel like I’m biting into a chunk of meat that was left in the Sahara for a few hours. Yeah, it’s cooked; if you like desert burgers. I wasn’t able to find out who delivers their meat, or how it’s cooked, but they definitely need to improve the style of their burgers if they want more business. Their wings could use a little more work also, but let’s go with one thing at a time.
I also believe that many people do know of the existence of Wackadoos, but prefer not to go there for the very reason that their food is sub par at best. Why go to sub par food, when you can get Pizza Hut, Burger King, or Jersey Mike’s in the cafeteria? The cafeteria is probably . I don’t know about anyone else, but after I eat, I have no motivation to go to class.
You’ll find that usually students who live on campus go to Wackadoos more often then those who commute. I mean, it is fresh food, and as a college student who might not drive, fresh food is definitely a plus – especially cheap fresh food.
I don’t know how the other Wackadoos are throughout the state, but if they’re better, good for them. If they’re all the same though, maybe the company should reevaluate the way they cook the food, or the materials themselves. Their service is questionable also, but that’s another story.
Aside from the bad food, and bad service the atmosphere is a good place. They do have pool tables, and a few arcade machines, so it isn’t a totally bad place. On weekend nights they bring in entertainment for the stage, Sunday afternoons could be spent there, with the boys, drinking and watching football on the big screen, but a necessity of football, besides beer of course, is good food. If you’re willing to pay a little more and have access to a car, there’s a great bar and grill west of I-95 on Glades Rd and Lyons Rd called the Boca Ale House; one of the better bar and grills I’ve ever been too.
Wackadoos is a place with great potential. I for one avoid eating there as much as possible. Until they change their ways, I don’t see myself eating their food nearly as much as I play pool in between my classes. As the only fresh food place on campus, the possibilities are as high as the sky.
