n Oct. 30, the women’s cross-country team qualified for the NCAA South Regional meet by finishing second in the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship. This is the second time that the program has made it to the NCAA tournament.
Raynell Hagberg (19:09), Brittany Powers (19:16), Trisha Doyle (19:23), Monika Grabowiecka (19:25), and Linn Modin (19:49) all finished in the top-25 overall. Hagberg finished a career-best ninth, which was good enough to earn her conference honors for the first time. Doyle earned all-freshman honors as well.
In its first ever A-Sun Championship, the men’s cross-country team had five runners competing in the field. Nick Jarriel, a freshman, finished 29th which was a team best. Earl Barlow, another freshman, finished 30th with a time of 29:21. Stephen Little (29:37), Will Jennings (32:24) and Daniel Githens (36:20) finished 35th, 59th, and 72nd respectively.
The women’s team will compete on Saturday at the NCAA South Regional Tournament. The men did not finish high enough to qualify for the NCAA South Regional Tournament, thus ending their season.
