Volunteer Opportunity – Standup For Kids of Broward County has been helping homeless and at-risk children since 1990. This group meets every Saturday. Local volunteers are needed for outreach community resource development, funding grand writing, public relations, marketing and administration. Architecture Students Institute – AIAS, the American Institute of Architectural Students meets every Friday night at 7 p.m. at the HEC 7th Floor Gallery, on the Downtown Campus, formally known as the Towers Campus.

Counseling Services – Psychological counseling services are provided at no charge to the students attending the Broward campuses. The professionally trained staff seeks to assist students with personal concerns and problems. Students receive help dealing with issues such as test anxiety, stress, procrastination, poor assertiveness, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, drug and alcohol abuse, childhood sexual abuse and sexual assault. Couple and family counseling are also available at no charge as long as an enrolled FAU student is an active participant in the sessions. Group counseling and psychological testing services are also provided when appropriate. Counseling at the center is held in strict confidence in keeping with accepted professional practices and Florida statutes. Appointments (Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with some evening hours also available) may be made in person at the Counseling Center located in Modular 38-I on the Davie campus or by calling 954/236-1216.

Exhibits – The Bachelor of Fine Arts Fall Exhibition will be open for public viewing from December 3 to December 12, 2003, at the University Galleries. This exhibit showcases the work of students in the Senior Seminar Class and includes photography, sculpture, pottery, graphic design, printmaking and painting. Exhibits – Contemporary Latin American Women Artists will be on exhibit from October 25, 2003 to January 24, 2004 at the University Galleries. This exhibition surveys ten contemporary Latin American women artists whose works together represent a blend of current methods and tendencies in the visual arts as well as providing insights into Latin American culture and sensibilities. Adult Student Support Group – Stop by this support group every Thursday night from 6 to 7 p.m., to relax, chat and connect with other adult students and learn tips for balancing family, career, and academics. This group is especially for those students who are married, parents, working full-time or over 25 and is free for all students and led by professional Counseling Center staff. Library Tours – Take a walking tour of the library and learn where to find periodicals, government documents, the reference collection, children’s literature and more. Learn what’s special about the “Special Collections,” and where the best places are to do computing or to study in silence.
