Architecture Students Institute – AIAS, the American Institute of Architectural Students meets every Friday night at 7 p.m. at the HEC 7th Floor Gallery, on the Downtown Campus, formally known as the Towers Campus.
Counseling Services – Psychological counseling services are provided at no charge to the students attending the Broward campuses. The professionally trained staff seeks to assist students with personal concerns and problems. Students receive help dealing with issues such as test anxiety, stress, procrastination, poor assertiveness, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, drug and alcohol abuse, childhood sexual abuse and sexual assault. Couple and family counseling are also available at no charge as long as an enrolled FAU student is an active participant in the sessions. Group counseling and psychological testing services are also provided when appropriate. Counseling at the center is held in strict confidence in keeping with accepted professional practices and Florida statutes. Appointments (Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with some evening hours also available) may be made in person at the Counseling Center located in Modular 38-I on the Davie campus or by calling 954/236-1216.

Dog Walk — Stop by the Tri-County Humane Society’s 1st Annual Dog Walk and Festival, for a day of fun dedicated to saving homeless animals from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the University Center. There will be a one mile walk led by the Miami Heat Dancers as well as gifts, pet-related merchandise, food, drinks, contests, dog amusements, dog treats, and dog weddings. Each year Tri County Humane Society saves more than 3,200 homeless and abused animals. They rely on private donations for their operating budget, so donations are vital to help them continue saving thousands of animals every year. Registration fee is $25, $30 on day of event. Book Signing — Jane Goodall, well known worldwide for her groundbreaking study of chimpanzees, will be lecturing at 2 p.m. at the University Center Auditorium. Goodall began her study in Tanzania in June 1960 under the mentorship of Anthropologist and paleontologist Dr. Louis Leakey. Her work at the Gombe Stream Chimpanzee Reserve would become the foundation of future primatological research and redefine the relationship between humans and animals. In 1977, Goodall established the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI), which continues the Gombe research and is a global leader in the effort to protect chimpanzees and their habitats. Holocaust Lecture — Florida Atlantic University’s Holocaust and Judaic Studies Program presents Antisemitism in the Nazi Dream of Utopia, presented by Dr. Thomas A. Idinopulos at 4:30 p.m. at the Performing Arts Building, room 101. Idinopulos is professor of Comparative Religious Studies and director of the Jewish Studies Program at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio.
