In an effort to give its students the real-world experience necessary to excel in today’s business world, Florida Atlantic University’s College of Business and flatfeerealty.us, a web-based real estate company, organized an advertising competition for advertising students.
Fanny Fay Chira, a senior, won the competition, taking home the grand prize of $1,000 and an A for the final examination. Patricia Pererya, a junior, was voted runner-up.
Jim Weldon, the owner of flatfeerealty, brought the idea for the competition to Allen Smith, organizer of the competition and a professor of advertising at FAU.
The competition required students to create a storyboard depicting a thirty-second commercial that would be cost effective to produce and that would increase awareness of flatfeerealty.us.
FAU’s College of Business has worked with outside companies in the past to bring corporate world experiences into the classroom.
